Day II_Lunch: Attempted Focaccia and pasta with pesto alla genovese

 We tried making Focaccia. 

We added all the ingredients, flour, water, yeast, and put it in the oven to rise, but... it didnยดt rise.


We tried to leave it longer, nothing happened. Eventually we tried to have a look at the yeast... it wasnยดt yeast. It said "lieviti" on the packaging, yeast in italian, according to the translator.. well, turns out that was the name of the brand, not the product, which ended up being cream of tartar- not useful in the pursuit of making a focaccia. 





It was already late by the time we realised, so we decided to make pasta with pesto for lunch and move the focaccia to another time. 

Pasta with pesto, a classic, topped with some parmesan- never disappoints. 



However, just out of curiosity, we baked the dough anyway. And behold- Mochacha. A brick of Focaccia with the chewy texture of Mochi. 
Little did we know that we would actually grow to like it, especially later in the day ;)
